Karla Cooper

Karla grew up in Alkol, West Virginia with her three siblings and mom. An all-around athlete, she was all-county and all-state in both basketball and track. Before the end of her senior year Karla decided she wanted to travel the world and she joined the Army.

During her seven years of military service, Karla twice represented the United States and the Armed Forces, playing basketball in Germany and Belgium for the US Army team. She was selected, with four other women, for an international competition that lasted a grueling 13 hours. Karla’s team finished in first place among 50 teams from around the world, bringing home the Ladies Cup for the first time in the competition’s history. She received numerous honors, including the Army Commendation Medal and the Army Achievement Medal, and ended her military career as a sergeant.

Karla started in the car business in 1987. Within the first two months she sold over 40 cars and was quickly promoted to Finance and Insurance Manager. In 1989 she attended the Pat Ryan Insurance School in Chicago. That same year, she was promoted to General Sales Manager of a large Acura dealership. In 1994 she moved to Miami to become a part of the American Chariots team.

Karla is currently working on her degree in Business Administration at FIU, and relaxes by boating, fishing, racquetball, reading, spending time outdoors and always being there for her friends.

Karla is a member of the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce, Women’s Veterans Association, Women’s Service Network, Florida Independent Automobile Dealers Association, National Independent Automobile Dealers Association, and is a Notary Public.
