Karla Cooper
Karla grew up in Alkol, West Virginia with her three siblings and
mom. An all-around athlete, she was all-county and all-state in
both basketball and track. Before the end of her senior year Karla
decided she wanted to travel the world and she joined the Army.
During her seven years of military service, Karla twice represented
the United States and the Armed Forces, playing basketball in Germany
and Belgium for the US Army team. She was selected, with four other
women, for an international competition that lasted a grueling 13
hours. Karlas team finished in first place among 50 teams
from around the world, bringing home the Ladies Cup for the first
time in the competitions history. She received numerous honors,
including the Army Commendation Medal and the Army Achievement Medal,
and ended her military career as a sergeant.
Karla started in the car business in 1987. Within the first two
months she sold over 40 cars and was quickly promoted to Finance
and Insurance Manager. In 1989 she attended the Pat Ryan Insurance
School in Chicago. That same year, she was promoted to General Sales
Manager of a large Acura dealership. In 1994 she moved to Miami
to become a part of the American Chariots team.
Karla is currently working on her degree in Business Administration
at FIU, and relaxes by boating, fishing, racquetball, reading, spending
time outdoors and always being there for her friends.
Karla is a member of the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce, Womens
Veterans Association, Womens Service Network, Florida Independent
Automobile Dealers Association, National Independent Automobile
Dealers Association, and is a Notary Public.
