How It All Started
In 1977, schoolteacher Judy Kilburn went out to buy a car and
found the experience so frustrating she realized there had to
be a better way.
She did her homework and found that she could develop a service
to provide virtually any make and model of car directly to consumers
and save them time, money and frustration. American Chariots was
founded on Judy's desire to help.
Car buyers loved the concept, the business flourished, and soon
Judy could no longer do it alone. She spoke with Karla Cooper,
a sales manager she frequently dealt with, and a partnership ensued.
Almost a quarter-century later, American Chariots has continued
to grow every year. From sports and show-business personalities,
to busy executives and suburban moms, satisfied customers appreciate
the first-class personal service, and the substantial time and
